An amazingly deep read. Qouting Monique Grant 'I once read that charisma is “charm that inspires devotion" '. This really sums up how I felt while reading this story. I had originally expected a torrid account of Evelyn Hugo's exploits with her husbands in the early Hollywood Era. I was pleasantly surprised to find a story with more depth and that really explores the meaning of unconditional love.

I highly recommend this book. It was just terrific. Evelyn Hugo was such a complex character and it was such a great read to find out the details of her life. She is telling her story to a reporter, Monique. Evelyn can be tough, egotistical, stubborn, and even cruel, but she is aware of her flaws and thru it all learns about deep friendship and love.

i have read a few other books by this author and usually i either really like or dislike them. i tend to like the full-developed stories better than the Hollywood tell-all's she also seems to like to write. this book was pretty much a memoir recapping an elderly lady's life as a legendary Hollywood actress and wife times seven. back then it was frowned upon to use your sexuality to get what you wanted so she often found herself marrying and divorcing in order to further her career. most of the t
