The writing of Laini Taylor is the same as in the trilogy 'Daughter of Smoke and Bone': rich, overwhelming, transporting you to the world she writes about.
But I've often found myself losing interest in the story, because I couldn't stop comparing to the other trilogy. It looked a bit the same at some points.
At some point I thought 'This is great and one of the best books', but then again, loosing my attention. There were a lot of descriptions, good ones, though, but I needed the story to start.

While science fiction is not always my favorite genre, occasionally one crosses my path that I just feel a connection to. Strange the Dreamer by Laini Taylor is one such novel. I loved the two main characters of Lazlo and Sarai. They were idealists in the best way, selfless and brave. The novel was fantasy, but often felt like fairy tale, which is one of the aspects I loved the most. I want to visit the world this novel inhabits.
