I've had this book for years and finally got around to reading it and I'm glad I did. Actually, I listened to the audio and the narrator was very good. If not for a few parts that dragged for me, this would have been a 5 star read. I very much enjoyed Shadow's story. I found that a few of the chapters about the history of the Gods, meandered off a bit too much for me....I found myself wanting to get back to Shadow's journey. Fantastic book. Couldn't put it down. Not sure how to describe the book because there are so many parts. It's said that it's a commentary on religion and I guess it is to a certain extent. But, for me, it was a journey of self discovery on the narrator's part.

I began reading this book sometime in 2009. Three years later and I finally finished it. I think this is a record for getting through a book for me, but the fact I finished it at all says something for the story.

This book has so many layers I am sure I have only touched the surface. I was quite a ways into it before I started realizing it was story on top of story. I definitely need to reread it but it will be a while before I have the nerve to tackle it again.
