Glory and the Dream is **MARVELOUS!*** I also liked The Godfather, and Helter Skelter quite a bit.

If you like audio books at all, Glory is a good audio pick. It's 54 hours, but then you can listen while you're doing other things, so there's a tradeoff. :)

Yay! Glory was pretty much required reading in our house: my parents gave it to me for christmas back when I was in college, but I never finished it until I got a hold of it on audio many years later. I then immediately gave it to my niece, who also liked it very much.

I have actually read (long ago) six of these and loved them all. Modern classics IMO.
