This was adorable and funny. It centers on a women with a small tea shop. She wakes one morning to a dead body in her shop. And off it goes. I found Vera adorable and relatable. Her want to help and yet yet her blunt responses were a great mix and I loved her for her honesty and heart. Her ragtag group of suspects were so fun and I loved getting to know them. I loved the character of Vera! I thought the book was the perfect blend of likable side characters, a quirky main character, and good dialogue. The mystery part was probably the weakest of the book. I found Vera's shenanigans more entertaining than the mystery plot. I also enjoyed the descriptions of the food and the teas. ...more

Vera Wong is a 60 year old woman running a tea shop in San Fransisco's Chinatown, unfortunately she only has one daily customer. Then one day Vera comes downstairs to her shop and finds a dead man lying in the middle of the floor. Vera is convinced he was murdered and the four people who show up at her shop afterwards become her suspects. The book is told from the perspective of Vera and the four "suspects". I LOVED this. The characters and the found family are just what I love. I may actually give this 5 stars but waiting to see how I feel after a day or two. This was exactly all the things I want in and love about a cozy mystery. More like this please.
