For the most part I enjoyed this cozy mystery though I admit that Lily's do-gooder personality got on my nerves at times. Lily Ivory had a rough childhood, moving around a lot and never quite acclimated to people (friends etc) which makes it difficult to make friends in her new location...San Francisco. Lucky for her, most locals are friendly and make the effort to reciprocate her endeavors.

SECONDHAND SPIRITS came recommended to me by someone who shares my reading DNA and I was glad I followed up on her recommendation because I really enjoyed this book. In the first few pages we meet Aidan, a powerful local male witch who has a keen interest in Lily, what the interest is, and what he wants from Lily the reader, and Lily, is not to sure. However he gives her a welcome to the neighbourhood gift – a familiar. Not a kitten or a puppy like most witches mind you, but a gnome, a very ugly ...more
