I'm always a little nervous about re-tellings, especially ones I love so much. But this one was well crafted, with deliciously awful characters and a house and atmosphere that were almost characters themselves. Things I liked: the atmospheric setting (the eccentric house only accessible at low tide and without cell reception), the quirky nana (loved her and her cooking), the premise, the story itself/plot, the twist I couldn’t have predicted (a huge deal), the creepiness of all the little, thoughtful details, the dog.
