Shelves: library, mystery, audio, 2022, suspense

This was a fun mystery/comedy that occasionally pulled at my heartstrings, made me mad, and made me think. Moriarty did a great job writing interesting characters that we enjoyed journeying with . . . even if sometimes that journey involved deep loathing of them!

I liked the structure of the story where we are given hints of the outcome throughout the book. We know from the beginning that there is a major climax without knowing the specifics. And, each time a hint is given, it ties a little bit t ...more

If it weren’t for a Goodreads challenge I would have missed out this novel. The author has a great blend of genres that work well. The format used was perfect for the narrative. By now most people will have either read the book or watched the TV series adaptation. But in a nutshell, set in Pirriwee Australia we follow three mothers for one year at a kindergarten where on Trivia Night at the end of the school year a tragedy unfolds.

Otteessaan pitävä tarina aina loppuun asti, hyvin kirjoitettu pikkuhiljaa asioita tuoden esille. Tämä kirjailija on uusi tuttavuus ja olen lukenut häneltä tätä ennen vasta yhden kirjan mutta luen kyllä lisää ehdottomasti ja suosittelen jos pitää tämän tyyppisistä kirjoista ja kyllä muutenkin kannattaa lukea.

4.5⭐️ I watched the series before reading the book. Even though the tv series were very interesting casting pretty good actors, I still enjoyed the book more. Usually I tried to read books first before they get filmed as I don’t like to spoil the read but some times it’s inevitable. Thriller, suspense and mystery plus drama and romance at times psychotic - overall it’s a pretty nice combo
