3 stars. I’m so far removed from this series. I bought this book when it came out in 2017 and have had no interest in picking it up. I only read this because of the release of A Court of Silver Flames because I think Nesta is the most fascinating character in this series so I’m really excited for her story. I feel like I’m going to enjoy her as the heroine far more than Feyre because I really can’t stand Feyre and she never did grow on me throughout these books. I think reading this series closer together, highlighting, nothing, and tagging the details has made a huge difference in reading enjoyment.
Easily my favorite of the original three, there was so much balance between the characters and their development. So much of ACOMAF was centered on Feyre and Rhysand. That was their romance story.

Ok I'll say this again because I can but...I'm SUPER late joining the Maas train but no regrets because I'm reading it on my own terms and I have kept myself pretty far distanced from the plot for the most part. Now I get to go back and read everyone's reviews and I am amazed at the responses! I am reading this series (for the first time!) at such a great time in my life and I am so glad to be reading it on my own and without so many other people's hype and opinions buzzing around the book at th Ok I'll say this again because I can but...I'm SUPER late joining the Maas train but no regrets because I'm reading it on my own terms and I have kept myself pretty far distanced from the plot for the most part. I am on MY OWN Ilyrian adventure with these characters and it is so epic. So just a few thoughts because my brain is just ACOWAR mush...

I really don't read much fantasy, and its honestly because the thought of battles and courts and war and lords/ladies and magic and magical creatures intimidates me. One or two of these elements at a time and I'm cool. This book is 700 PAGES OF EVERYTHING ALL AT ONCE AND I LOVED IT. I don't know how SJM did it but I was laughing and crying and I was angry and terrified and I was turning pages like a madwoman!
