I feel like I need to disclose that I am not a fan of Jane Austen. All that sitting around talking.
I liked this "modern retelling" probably because it did not remind me much of Pride and Prejudice. Unlike the Curtis Settenfeld one that just moved the whole story into the 21st century.
I liked the big, complicated Raje family and all their secrets and successes. I loved the backstory on why Trisha became a neurosurgeon. There were enough subplots to keep me ...more

I was really hoping to love this story, because I oh so love Pride & Prejudice, but this didn't do it for me.
I know the original story centers around misunderstandings, but I still liked those characters. Their misunderstandings didn't also feel like it came with a big heaping of cruelty. That's what it felt like in this story.

I really wanted to love this. I didn’t. I didn't like the characters, I didn't see any chemistry between the two mains and honestly thought this book contained some of the most unlikable characters I've ever read. It was easily readable which was the saving grace.
