As a fan of Khaled Hosseini’s books, I jumped at the chance to read his latest novel. The author once again delivered a gem of a book with vignettes woven into a complex tapestry of the nation and culture that is Afghanistan. Hosseini has arguably done more than any other author redefining contemporary Afghanistan beyond the caricature of a tragic, war-torn mess. Story was layered with many individuals who were somehow connected to each other at some point. I found it hard to jump from one story to another and it always took me longer to realise the connection than I would have liked. It starts and end with the same characters, but some in the middle of the story made me wonder were they actually filling their purpose. So at the end I wasn't able to create any kind of connection with any of the characters. I hoped so much more.
