Incredibly well researched historical account of what evangelicalism is based on in terms of gender ideals and roles, and how those thoughts came to be. We've operated under the assumption that these things are assuredly what God wants, yet the actual history turns that assumption on its head; a divergent view of Christianity than the traditional one is no longer "capitulating to the ways of the world" but in fact is more aligned with the Word than the brutal enforcement of gender norms commonly
