Occasional moments of high drama and pathos (Supergirl! The Flash) and Perez's nigh-perfect art elevate a "classic" that is hamstrung by repetitive storytelling (it is, at the end of the day 400 pages of punching on and pontificating), muddled mythology, and some truly risible dialogue (everyone talks like a middle-aged 70s dad, which is an artifact of the time perhaps, but still annoying as hell).
