I. I…I have no words. This books was absolutely, outrageously, wonderfully, perfect. I mean actually perfect. The characters build up, the scenery, the game… THE PLOT TWISTS!? Like A-M-A-Z-I-N-G. I don’t think I’ve ever gasped and opened my mouth so much.

I just started getting into my fantasy era and I’m IN LOVE. There’s just something about this book that makes me love reading even more.

I’m going to be totally honest; since I read Hotel Magnifique before this one, I kept drawing comparisons between the two. I hate putting another book down, but personally, Caraval was SO much better. The only reason I took off a star was because I kept getting confused - which seemed to be intended, to an extent, but I was a little lost at times (or maybe I wasn’t reading carefully enough because I was too busy *scrutinizing* Julian, I won’t deny it). Exact rating: 3.9

Caraval was more whimsical than magical and definitely unlike anything I’ve read before... a good different. Not even like Once Upon A Broken Heart (To be clear: I love OUABH and liked it much better than caraval). I never really knew what to expect from the plot. Some twists were a little predictable, but not the last one. I was never bored, and I actually enjoyed navigating the strange, enchanting world.
