WAIT THAT WAS ACTUALLY AMAZING. I was kind of nervous to read it because of how high my expectations were but it lived up to every one of them! it was funny, fast-paced, and of course we stan our cunning, morally gray characters. I love the crows so much and I am already dying to read CK!

Creo que va a hacer un poco complicado poner en palabras todo lo que sentí al leer este libro porque la verdad que fue MARAVILLOSO, pero lo voy a intentar.

so so good. i really enjoyed this book. it passed my high expectations. i attempted to read this book twice but couldn't do it because of the first chapter, it was so boring. i'm glad that first chapter had nothing to do with the book and that i eventually got past it. to be honest, i don't think i would have picked this book up if i hadn't watched shadow and bone (or fell in love with kaz and inej) but the influence and chokehold that show has on me is insane, it convinced me to face m ...more

3.75/5 Stars - I'm not going to lie - this book was great. However, I am extremely harsh with my ratings, and there are a few reasons that I did not bump this up to 4 stars.

1: The beginning was, as always, slow. This is one of my biggest pet peeves, and, I know, it's almost impossible to make it interesting, but in this book there is a lot of time at the beginning where the Dregs are just traveling around, overthinking things, walking around, and telling old stories without much else h SPOILERS:

3.75/5 Stars - I'm not going to lie - this book was great. However, I am extremely harsh with my ratings, and there are a few reasons that I did not bump this up to 4 stars.

1: The beginning was, as always, slow. This is one of my biggest pet peeves, and, I know, it's almost impossible to make it interesting, but in this book there is a lot of time at the beginning where the Dregs are just traveling around, overthinking things, walking around, and telling old stories without much else happening.

2: As endearing as people make Kaz Brekker seem, I'm not going to lie, I wasn't completely taken by him. As much as I love someone confident, and somewhat broken from something in their past, Kaz took it a little too far in my opinion. There was only one moment in the story where he was truly vulnerable, and even at that, he still desperately tries to seem as if he has the upper hand. So, yes, I feel sad for him, but I can't really fall for someone who, never once, shows love to anyone.

3: The Nina and Matthias story. Listen, I love good enemies-to-lovers, but these two basically went from hating each other to finding one thing that they agreed on and then suddenly falling back in love. I mean, don't get me wrong, I love the two of them together, but I would have liked to see a little more slow burn.

However, there were still plenty of things that I loved about this book.

1: Frickin Nina Zenik. Literally who I want to be in life. Seriously a grade-A badass with no flaws whatsoever. Love you girl.

2: The overall plot. I truly do love good heists, and this book definitely delivered in that field. When I finally got to the actual heist, I was completely taken. I love how many times "Plan B" had to be used. I thought Leigh Bardugo did a wonderful job of keeping you on the edge of your seat, but still well aware that Kaz Brekker's crew would be just fine.

3: The smooth-talking of Kaz Brekker. As much as I dislike his completely hardened character, the way he discussed deals with Van Eck and Rollins, made me want to become a criminal myself.

4: The relationship between Wylan and Jesper. Just *chef's kiss*

5: And finally, the gray area between good and evil. Wanting to route for the evil, but knowing that the heroes will fall.

Overall, a great book, but definitely with a few flaws. ...more

Although it took a while to finish, I love every bit of this book. Each and every character of the crew, I fell in love with. I was throughly engrossed in the plot and its characters. Leigh Bardugo’s writing has definitely improved from the Grisha trilogy. Even the Grisha were more captivating in this book. And leading up to that last chapter, I was almost at the end of my seat. It truly showcased what I love about Kaz. I’m brimming to start the next book to see what happens next. Definitely one ...more
