I don't think I will ever love anything or anyone the way I love The Folk of the Air series. One has to be a literal genius to come up with something so incredible!! My mind is decimated. Firstly, the plot is fantastic. Using a direct reference from the book, this is like Alice's Adventures in Wonderland if Alice was a wrathful, murderous human teenager, and Wonderland was fu ...more

Once the slow first half or so is done, it gets really good. The first half is not bad, just alot of political maneuvering that I'm not so into. I did like that all the characters had shades of grey, and the love to hate you hate to love you dynamic between Jude and Cardan was really good.

I had high hopes coming into this first book of the series. Many people really hyped it up and sadly it didn’t meet the expectations. However, it still was not what I initially expected. It’s a well woven world of a Fae-like tapestry that contains memorable characters that you grow attached to even early on. They all feel quite compelling though certainly some more than others. It’s a cut throat world and even rooting for the main character you feel a pause and think and hope it’s the right choi

Prologue of the story itself, was shocking by itself like, Madoc she was your wife. Alto it did set the tone of his character from the start, and somehow towards the end where it is reveled what his true intensions where in the start.
Favorite characters?
Of Course it has to be Caden and Jude oh and Vivi, I liked her even if she did not get much of a writing scene.
I cannot wait to be able to read the second book. In all truth the story itself is fascinating, and the characters well were put. Howe ...more

I like books that surprise me. And this is one of those that did. It helps that all I was expecting was a typical ‘girl falls in love with a bully who turns out to be a good guy’ romance trope, which it is, but what held my attention was the plot surrounding politics; the schemes and the court of shadows and our ambitious girl in their midst. I also liked the messy yet effective way of introducing the conflict. The plot twist at the end, however, was as predictable as they come but satisfying no

I finally found out why I love this book so much. Jude isn’t the typical YA heroine. She’s not the one with a secret heritage, powers that separate her from everyone else. Her sister Vivi fits that, but Jude has no reason to fight. She could be demure and perfect like her sister, but it’s her CHARACTER that sets her apart. She doesn’t have to go through with any of her plans but she does, and THAT is what hits different.
