Wonder was a delightful read from start to finish. Palacio's decision to write about a 5th grader with significant facial deformities was an astute one since it allows her to hit on issues that almost all ES/MS students face concerning inside vs. outside value. Auggie's deformities put him beyond the norm to be sure but they really just help to magnify our universal fears about starting a new school, making friends, dealing with societal stereotypes about who is attractive, popular and important

This one begs to be read aloud and shared with children. So many aspects of life to think about. It's a debut - and I can't wait for more from this author.
