This book was a LOT, but in a good way. I bought it back when it came out, but I couldn't bring myself to read it every time I looked at it I felt guilty but didn't pick it up. Then last October I read fourth Wing and Iron Flame and I wanted to read something similar. Which for me literarily just meant a big fantasy novel with romance and magic. That exactly what this book is, except it's also a murder mystery.

The first few pages were a little boring, but became very interesting soon the after about 200-300 pages in it was getting a bit boring. There wasn't as much action and the attention wasn't enough on the two lovers, for my liking. I put the book down and didn't actively pick it up till this weekend. So I started las December but finished it in April...
That's on me though and not the book, im a mood reader so with long books, like this one, it's sometimes hard for me to read it in one go.
But when I picked it up again a few days ago and got through the first 50 pages or so, I couldn't put it down anymore. It was SO good especially the last 200 pages. The Plot twist was with Hunt and the synth was a surprise, but then the OTHER plot twist with Micah was what really shocked me. I kinda liked him and wouldn't have expecting that at all.
Also there wasn't really any spice which I am fine with because there was SOOO much TENSION. Unpopular opinion but I prefer that over spice. Hunt and Bryce are so cute, but I heard that they may not be endgame, since SJM introduced us to a perfect love interest that in the end wasn't so perfect at all, in her other two book series. Ig people think that is going to happen again. I don't think it will. This book is so different from the other two series, so why would the romance plot be the same?
All in all, I really recommend this book, but it definitely isn't for anyone. if you can't handle a few hundred pages of not so interesting plot, then think twice if you really want to read it. In my opinion those few hundred pages are worth reading when you have that ending as reward.
I wanted to give this book 5 stars, but im withholding myself because I noticed my last few reviews are almost always five stars, and I want to start b being more critical. :)
