I FINISHED IT!!!!

Okay okay, calm down.

I gave it 4 stars because it was good but it wasn't that good. Since Goodreads still doesn't have half stars *gives a pointed look to the computer screen* there also aren't quarter stars but I can't really judge you for that. I think in honest opinion- 3.75 stars

I promise not to rant too much about Mal. I don't hate him as much, but I really don't like him.

Overall, I really liked this book. The ending just didn't work for me. I didn't like the ending at all. The whole thing was kind of anticlimactic in my option.

I have really enjoyed Alina's character development throughout the books. But I think it would have been even better without Mal there to hold her back. The ending was awful. Having her lose her powers sucked. They were a part of her and after everything she lost them.

I don't like Mal. I really tried to but I just don't. He wasn't good for Alina. I felt like he wanted her to be week. He couldn't love all of her- only the parts he wanted. In the end he got what he wanted though. Alina without her powers and once again needing him. I think it would have been better if he had stayed dead. The resurrection wasn't explained. It was pointless. The whole last part was revolved around the conflict of Alina having to kill him and then he just happened to come back? I didn't like it. But I also don't like Mal so...

I don't like the Darkling, but he was an amazing villain. Leigh wrote him in a way that at times I would have to remind myself that I didn't like him and he was not good. I didn't want him and Alina to end up together so I was glad that didn't happen. He was just too toxic and used her too much for me to ship that. He literally was fine with taking away her free will. Another problem I had was that the Darkling was killed with a knife. Really? There was so much talk about how hard it would be to kill him and how only Alina could do it. Then she killed him with a knife.

Nikolai very quickly became my favorite character. His personality was top tier. I also feel like there's so much to be explored with him. His first appearance in this book made me have the close the book. I immediately knew it was him. But he did not diverse that Leigh Bardugo. The entire time I was trying to convince myself that he'd be ok. I can't wait to see how he develops further in King of Scars.

I always loved Genya. The scene with the king was awful but she was so amazing. David is adorable. I love him, and I love them together.

I finally got the Zoya content I wanted this entire time. She was finally an actually character instead of just something to come between Mal and Alina. I like her a lot. I hope she appears a lot in King of Scars.

I loved Baghra and Botkin. I was so sad when they died.

I loved it. I loved the whole trilogy. This book made me cry, get angry and laugh [Amazing story]. I loved the characters. The characters are funny, brave and selflessness.

This is definitely my favorite book of the series and the way Bardugos writing improved over the years was so visible!!

I really liked the plottwist, the problems, the way they were so human and relatable! I liked how Alina was frustrated, anxious and also how she acknowledged the way her power has changed her as a person, contemplating if it was the right choice to be that way, actually reflecting on who she was and who she is now and making her decisions based on that.

There were many things I was prepared for when I started the final installment of the trilogy. The tears in my eyes because I just finished Alina her story wasn't part of it. There were plottwists, entertaining scenes, scenes were you just wanted to scream or cry.
I didn't, but I was close to.
I enjoyed this series very much. I don't like giving out five stars, it makes it seem as if I am easy to please. But with this ending I couldn't give it anything else.
