*SPOILER ALERT*
I honestly have mixed feelings about this book. I did enjoy reading it but most of the stuff in it was just really predictable. I mean I saw Hayes's death coming. Ellie wasn't talked about much after Hayes was dead (*ahem* murdered) , so I guess that made her a possible suspect for me. The author avoided talking about Ellie after Hayes's death(except for that time she got really drunk) so that when she was accused of killing Hayes, it would come as a shock to the readers ...more

Reading attempt 4:
Actually enjoyed it this time. Maybe a physical copy is the best way to go.
Reading attempt 1, 2 and 3:
DNF

I'm gonna try read this soon I think ...more

I don't know how to feel about this book. I constantly was wanting to tun the page and find out what was going to happen next.
Stevie is such an interesting character as you can really tell how much she cares about solving crime and what she would do for a lead. She s nothing like any other character I have ever read about which is so exciting as she isn't predictable.
I also loved Nate!! I can't explain what it is but he really seems to care about Stevie and they have a friendship that he doesn't ...more

Near perfect. I'm embarrassingly afraid of horror and this YA murder mystery creeped me out, but Truly Devious was a beautiful blend of eloquent language, academic atmosphere, and chilling scenes with murder. I loved Stevie and how self-sufficient she is, even when no one takes her true crime knowledge seriously. The pacing was slightly slow, but I can't wait to read the sequel!
