Shelves: failed_mysteries, overhyped, could_have-been-better, why-did-i-read-this

I had so many expectations from this book since it won the Goodreads choice award and is so highly praised, but it just didn't even meet one of my expectations. The writing is floppy, lyrical and didn't immerse me. The characters are just that- Characters, like some little figurines in a playhouse, whom we can only see and dress up and play with but not understand, there wasn't any character development, except for Cadence who's the narrator of the book so it's obvious that we get to know more a ...more

brilliant and breathtaking, this book is a whirlwind of euphoria and intrigue. A beautiful family, a perfect family, a wealthy family with an accident shrouded in mystery. Something you’ll never be able to put down 💌

assorted thoughts:

- the writing in this was GORGEOUS !! the metaphors, the euphemisms, THE CHARACTER DESCRIPTIONS?!
