“I love you. No matter what she says about it, no matter if it’s only with my insignificant human heart. Even when they burn my body, I’ll love you.”
I certainly never thought I would re-read this book the same year that I first read it, but here I am. This book is a great 'Beauty and the Beast' retelling, made even better with the world-building. The characters aren't perfect; for each scene where they are kind and fun, there is another that alludes to the darker aspect of a charact ...more

I was pleasantly surprised with this book. I had previously read Throne of Glass by Sarah J. Maas and was very disappointed with it. So I was a little leery to try another of Ms. Maas's books but I'm glad I did. This is a series I can stick with. One big score here is the heroine isn't annoying. She at least seems like a real person. She doesn't really have any special talent that would be considered extraordinary she has just had to work hard to learn skills needed to survive.
