I absolutely LOVED this book!!! I don't know why I had avoided it all these years?! It definitely is on my list of to reread books. I am looking forward to watching the 1940 black and white movie of this book sometime this week or weekend. :) Maybe next week I will watch the Netflix version.

I have recently finished rereading this book and even though I remember how it ends I still enjoyed it as much as the first time I read it! ...more

I'm definitely in the minority this book was awful. I still trying to figure out was it suppose to be a mystery or suspense or drama. And still trying to figure out why this is considered a classic. the story just dragged, there was nothing great about the ending, the love story just lacked subatance and the based on the summary on the back of the book i thought i was getting a housekeeper who was going to be an evil witch not one i had sympathy for at the end. Audiobook.

Essential reading (or listening). An absolute masterpiece of literature.
