I loved, loved, LOVED this book. Strong female character who does not change or get "pretty" in order to overcome her circumstances?? Sold.
I actually think I liked this better than the Hunger Games, although both have female leads who must survive and in a dystopian future. Although the romantic angle felt a bit formulaic (really, does every female teenage-adventure book have a boy who falls for said female lead? Great concept, but the writing is mediocre and the story doesn't flow...at times it was really disjointed and difficult to follow. Plus there isn't much emotional investment in the characters.
Overall, entertaining. I will finish the series because I genuinely want to know what happens. ...more
