I definitely got the "did I read a different book than everyone else" feeling when seeing the loads of positive reviews. This book has absolutely no plot. Also, it is incredibly sexists, but I will not get into that now.
The star is merely rewarded for the trans representation and for how fierce and protective Julian was over Yadriel being respected.

Aww, what a heartwarming and cozy read! I so enjoyed this one, it truly had me hanging on every word and just was such a pleasant reading experience! I wanted to give the characters a hug and I really enjoyed the explorations of family and the main character's identity. I loved the plot and the concept of ghosts, and the romance made me really happy! Julian made me smile, he was such a goofy and fascinating love interest. For me, I think I just didn't connect as fully to the story as I wanted to

Honestly loved it. The only thing that bugged me was the pacing of the book. It felt very slow and dragged in at times, and then fast at rushed. Other than that tho I loved it. The trans rep is amazing, and the representation of Latina culture is just magnificent. I learned so much from reading Cemetery Boys, and was close too tears by the time J was done.
