Yadriel:
Yadriel is a transgender boy trying to become a brujo in a very 'traditional' society. His character was amazing and the amount of growth and change he went through in such a short book was just *chef's kiss*. I loved watching him interact with Maritza and Julian and him constantly correcting Julian's grammar/incorrect speech is my everything. Okay, this was a lot but also not? I’m a spiritual practitioner, so I enjoyed this a LOT, especially bc I’d been around the celebrations of Día de Los Muertos since I was a child.

This book was such an exciting read! The memories that Yadriel and Julian make are so sweet. I loved looking into the struggles of both their pasts. Julian fr is a ride-or-die, my favorite quote out the whole book about him is, "He wasn't no snitch." Literally, the random humor in the book is nice to have, especially with the stressful moments.
