I finished Divergent by Veronica Roth a few weeks ago, but it has taken me a while to think about how I felt about it. It's a YA dystopian novel that has received much buzz on the Internets. I was naturally stoked since I love all things dystopia. Make of that what you will.

Anyway, here's the summary: Sixteen-year-old Tris must choose one of five factions (Candor, Abnegation, Dauntless, Amity, Erudite) to devote her life to. She's grown up in the Abnegation faction, but will she stay?

I have to start this review of with this...I loved Divergent BUT the beginning was not as awesome as I thought it would be. To me the beginning was a little slow but definitely not to the point where I was anywhere NEAR putting it down! What I absolutely LOVED about the beginning and really the whole book was the budding first love between Tris and Four!. Like WOWZA! My heart would beat so fast when Tris would over think about every little detail between her and Four. I totally understood why sh I have to start this review of with this...I loved Divergent BUT the beginning was not as awesome as I thought it would be. To me the beginning was a little slow but definitely not to the point where I was anywhere NEAR putting it down! What I absolutely LOVED about the beginning and really the whole book was the budding first love between Tris and Four!. Like WOWZA! My heart would beat so fast when Tris would over think about every little detail between her and Four. I totally understood why she did too! I remember my first love; so awkward, unsure, passionate, staying up all night thinking about the other person just wondering what they are doing! Your face stays red, you sweat, you stammer, you stare just a little too long...I mean Roth has made me feel all this and more just as Tris did. The story is told through her eyes but I just KNOW Four was feeling the same way!

Roth paints a picture where everyone is segregated into different groups that represent a certain quality. Each faction lives and dies by these qualities and in my opinion and most of those who are Divergent, go overboard with them! There IS such a thing as too much of a good thing and it becomes apparent to certain characters within Divergent, that not all is at it seems within the great and wonderful factions they reside in.

Imagine having to choose between your family and your future? If you stay where you are, you could be stifled by the monotony and act like someone who you just are not. If you choose a different faction, you are shunned and thrown into initiation to a world you must now call home...or you could just be factionless which most would say is worse than death!

Divergent has a great cast of characters, a superb plot, a HOT BANGING ending and a romance that will having you blushing as if it's you in the book! The whole thing about the book being a little slow in the beginning is really just building up to the crazy climax at the end that will leave you breathless and in tears!

In a world where the motto is "Faction over Blood", Tris must quickly learn who she can trust...or it could be the death of her and everyone she loves! ...more
