What Members Thought

I guess second time is the charm.

13/6/21 2 ⭐
I want to say that Crooked Kingdom is an improvement from its predecessor, but it isn't. I felt the same way I felt while reading Six of Crows. Low-key bored.

While the world building was great, the book was a let down. Though the plot is very complex and nuanced it's not interesting enough to hook the reader from start to end. There are so many subplots and plans being planned and executed throughout that when the end arrives it feels a bit l ...more

“Have any of you wondered what I did with all the cash Pekka Rollins gave us?"
"Guns?" asked Jesper.
"Ships?" queried Inej.
"Bombs?" suggested Wylan.
"Political bribes?" offered Nina. They all looked at Matthias. "This is where you tell us how awful we are," she whispered.”
I mean what am I suppose to do now that I'm done with the duology.
This can't be the end right? I need more.
Everyone's story doesn't end here.
There's more to it. IM FRUSTRATED I WANT MORE.

Crooked Kingdom is the second book in the Six of Crows Duology. The Crows are left in disastrous circumstances after their previous job went sour. It will require everything they have to bounce back at hopefully get the justice and retribution they demand.
Leigh Bardugo produced sequel that's intriguing, twisty and downright devious. The plot was slow, but highly unpredictable and flowy. It kept me guessing where the plot was heading. Kaz and the Crows are more ruthless, clever and cunning than e ...more

MY HEART!!!

6 "well, 1 mourner; you may proceed with my funeral" stars crows...
Like my review of Six of Crows, this re-read and review were inspired by my recent binge of the Netflix series.
Let me just say that if a spinoff series following the Crows ever gets pitched, I'm quitting my life, squatting in a moody, isolated cabin and I'ma be all about it.
Given the way they chose to go about combining the two Grishaverse series...(view spoiler) ...more

I can't breathe!
That ending was so beautiful... and yet... IT WRECKED ME!!! HOW CAN I EVEN PUT IT INTO WORDS!? The feelings that I had for all these characters and how I cared about what happened to Kaz, Inej, Matthias, Wylan, Jesper, Nina and Kuwei? It just shows the magic and the absolute power behind words and how they can make you feel something so strong for the storyline as Leigh Bardugo so brilliantly demonstrated in Crooked Kingdom and the whole Six of Crows duology overall.
