I took the audiobook version for this book.
And I was not expecting this book to have so much drama and suspense.
From the starting of the book it starts weaving a tale to intrigue the reader about the caraval and legend. And throughout the book that charm just thickens. The description and the world building was quite magical to listen.
Also the romance subplot, despite being a YA book felt quite serious and mature. It held a certain gravidy to it.

This trilogy is magical! Caraval surpassed all my expectations and more. From the beginning until the last page, there was never a dull moment while reading this series. It was just an enigma wrapped in magic and deception.
One minute you think you have the story and the characters all figured out, the next minute the storyline takes you in a completely different direction! There were just so many twists, turns, and puzzles that every page leaves you hanging at the edge of your seat.

wow. that was definiteky not what I expected going into this book. I liked it way more than I thought I would. Julian is truly amazing and I loved Scarlet's character she was strong and determined and great.
