So this book is a little darker than its counterpart, Once Upon a Broken Heart.

This book was ok. I didn't love it, I didn't hate it. I HATED THIS BOOK. Thank you to everyone who was in the buddy read with me! I loved talking with you all
The Characters
Scarlett:
Nope, nope, nope. There was no character development here. None. Where did it go? Where has it gone? Authors have just given up on character development and I HATE it. STOP IT. STOP IT NOW. She was just so naive and it annoyed the hell out of me. It took ...more

Caraval was a very twisted, well crafted and almost an endless riddle.
It felt like I was in Wonderland, it give a major Alice in Wonderland vibes. By the time I was half way through the book I believed wholeheartedly that EVERYONE in this place was mad. Absolutely crazy. And I loved that!!
You can see the abuse that Scarlett has gone through as a child and was still going through at the beginning of the b ...more

im so confused and dont know whats real
one thing this book does very well is mess with your head. there's such a heavy emphasis on not believing anyone or anything that happens in caraval because it's 'just a game' and isn't real. after the ending, im seriously doubting everything.it is a game, it's not a game, wait it is a game. I seriously don't know what to believe 😔
this was mostly in last 100 pages or so. the book was at a solid 3-3.5 for the first 70% but it earned a 4ish fo ...more

As much as wanted to read it, I wasn't so impressed. Of course I'm going to finish the trilogy because It's just 3 parts.
There was mystery, sisterhood, however the romance it promised, appeared in the end. Also, I didn't even notice... Maybe I skipped something, but it escalated so quickly. They kissed one time and Scarlett talked about she likes Julian but didn't trust him. At the end they just..... (you know what read the book and find out!)
