I must admit, I really wasn't a big fan of the Shadow and Bone trilogy, I liked some aspects of it and some characters (Nikolai, mainly) but overall, I never connected with the story, the world, or any side of the love triangle. Okay. Let’s be clear. It’s was difficult for me at first. But then BOOM everything was crazy. Every person here was incredible. Inej was my favorite probably, she’s clever, she’s brave. Kaz okay he’s charming in a really weird way.

Having read the Shadow & Bone books, I definitely think Bardugo's writing benefits from practice. I liked all the characters and was on the edge of my seat hoping that they'd make it out. Even when I thought I'd predicted a twist, it didn't quite happen like how I expected.
