What Members Thought
This book was relegated to a bathroom reader as it is a bit oversized and has 700 pages, too heavy to carry around. It's fascinating, mostly about islands of the world, and about extinctions and species. I am learning more than I can say. It's a scientific book related in a charming way and has to have been an epic feat of research as well as years of being in these places, talking to the experts. There are many dangerous situations, so it's an adventure, too.

Even on the second read, this book stands up as a classic. Part travelogue, part science history and part lesson on island biogeography, Quammen paints a picture that is global.

I lost the book. Literally misplaced the physical book. It has to turn up some year.
