What Members Thought

You have to admire the audacity to write a history of everything, from the big bang to the present day. This book makes the attempt -- it certainly does cover all of history. But in so doing, little is said about anything. I came away, after reading the book, without any gain of understanding of anything. The problem is that in such a book, there is not enough space to describe anything in sufficient detail to gain a true understanding.

It's a cool idea, and pretty well executed - let's tell the scientific story of how things happened to get where we are, as though it were a traditional creation story.
So we get the evidence based explanation of where matter and energy came from, how our sun came to be, how our planet came to be, how life arose...
