The book that I'm going to present to you is the picture of Dorian Gray.
I read it when I was in secondary school and it marked me so much that I wanted to share with you my feelings about this story.
First of all, it deals with a young and handsome man called Dorian Gray who made the wish that he would stay like that forever, instead his portrayal which just had been painted by Basil, his friend, will grow old and get ugly. Responsible of the death of a woman, he realized that his wish came true and finally continue to do bad things as he doesn't have to face consequences.
This thriller was very interessenting to read thanks to the suspense and the stories of murder. From the beginnig, there is a mysterious atmosphere with that curse and we have the feeling that something ominous will happen. Indeed, the young man, so pure at the beginning, turns little by little into an evil and I was very horrified and sad for him. This is accentuated by the fantastic dimension with the transformation of the portrayal which makes a spooky and creepy atmosphere. I felt also so sorry for Dorian's victims, Sybil Vane and her family and Basil who was stabbed by Dorian because of the rage.
My favourite scene is when Dorian hears about Sybil's death. We can clearly feel that his world is falling apart. But during all the story, I really expected him to do good things and live honestly but his attempts are always hypocrites and his situation gets worse and worse until the end, and I found that very pitiful. That I disliked the most in this because I like happy ending.
Finally, we can say that we can't remain insensitive towards this very spooky and well writed story. I wonder that the reason I found this story amazing is that the author did not simply want to reflect human person with his character but reflect the reader about his way to live his own life, do the right thing or not.
