But it is not lives we regret not living that are the real problem. It is the regret itself. It's the regret that makes us shrivel and wither and feel like our own and other people's worst enemy.
We can't tell if any of those other versions would of been better or worse. Those lives are happening, it is true, but you are happening as well, and that is the happening we have to focus on.”

"You don't have to understand life. You just have to live it."
Exploring the boundaries of human perception, The Midnight Library not only puts to test your view of the universe but completely obliterates it. Thereby, allowing you to see the things you never could before.
It isn't just a story, it's a feeling.
One that delves deep into your soul, tangling with it; until you are one with it and it is one with you.

You know what, even 9 months after I finished reading this book, out of nowhere, I'll start thinking about it. I guess it wasn't as mediocre as I initially thought.
So I'm bumping this up a star.

So I want to start off by saying that if the book club didn't vote for this as our January read, I most likely wouldn't have picked it up on my own ever. And now that I finished it, I'm pretty sure I wouldn't have regretted it.
This isn't a bad book, it's just nothing I haven't seen before and I don't care about this concept enough to read it over and over again as if it's the first time like I can do with some others.

The Midnight Library has a promising concept and moments of charm, but ultimately, it feels like a missed opportunity. Its heavy-handed delivery of life lessons detracts from the deeper exploration of its themes, and its repetitive structure diminishes the emotional impact of Nora's journey. For readers seeking a more nuanced or challenging exploration of alternate lives and personal transformation, this novel may feel disappointingly simplistic.

This book was incredibly interesting and definitely deserves the hype it generated. This is my first Matt Haig book and definitely not my last. I love his writing style and the way he truly made me care about all the characters and their development. Sure, the ending was exactly what you hoped it would be but it wasn’t easy and simple and so I don’t feel like it discredited the hardships that Nora went through. She knew there was still a long way to go before she could be truly whole again but s
