Excellent start to a new series for me. Smoak might be another great character. This story was full of crazy stuff but it was enjoyable, even though it got pretty outlandish. I’m in on the rest of the series. Looks like it’s going to be a hell of a ride.

Since Tom Clancy, thriller authors have tried to duplicate the highly detailed style of the father of the techno thriller. This author has failed. Not realizing that more is just more, Orphan X is filled with details on the operation of everyday items, the distillery process of every alcoholic beverage and the contents of children's bedrooms.

I read the blurb today, got the book today and read the book today and I am a fan. There is a perfect blend of backstory and the current story to build a rich world that shows a whole world of intrigue, isolation, family and society at its best and worst. The secondary characters are very vibrant and play crucial roles in this action packed story. There were shades of 007, Bourne Identity, the Hitman and more to this first book of what I anticipate being an epic series with government intrigue, ...more

Interesting character

I really enjoyed this first installment. Evan is sort of a cross between John Lago and the Gray Man. I look forward to further novels in this series.

I was so excited to discover a new series so was disappointed that I struggled with this. I almost quit several times but managed to power through. I struggled to care about the character as he came across as robotic at times. I didn't enjoy the flashbacks. The technical jargon often distracted me. I did enjoy the connection with the neighbor and child. I'm debating reading the next book in the series as I really want to give this character and author a chance! ...more
