What Members Thought

Believe me, nobody's more surprised of this rating than me.
And it *only* took me 3 years to finally finish this.

also, stan queen nina🙌
I like all the characters (altho Kaz is just meh), but Nina steals the spotlight for me. I love her so much and I'm not ready to see what happens in CK -- my poor girl🥺
But other than her, I don't really have a super strong attachment to the characters??? Maybe only Jesper (I'd be sad if he died), but the other four ahhh I won't complete my sentence.

This book. THIS BOOK. THIS BOOK owns my heart. And THIS BOOK doesn't deserve my trashy review. Let's move on.

Many people state that the characters own this book. That the characters are the best part of this book. I think not.
Why?
Well, it's simple.
The writing, the plot, the world-building also deserve it. It's how beautifully these elements are handled, which compliments the characters. I mean, just look at that!:

A perfect solution, but the Ketterdam weather was not cooperating. There'...more

“No mourners. No funerals. Among them, it passed for 'good luck.”
“Inej had once offered to teach him how to fall. "The trick is not getting knocked down," he'd told her with a laugh. "No, Kaz," she'd said, "the trick is in getting back up.”
Times i have readed this book in total - 3 -My love for this found familly , this cast of charracters and this story is unendless and i will never stop re-reading this duology. Eeveryone pick it up , right now. Otherwise you missed this amazing story and ...more

this was my favorite book for a very long time and is still one of my favorites! six of crows holds a very special place in my heart because of the characters, plot, and leigh’s writing
in my opinion, the characters are what stand out in this story. there’s so much diversity and i love how she tells more about everyone as the book goes on. my favorite has always been kaz and i think that he is the coolest, smartest, and most badass main character ever written haha. i love all the twists and turns ...more

Before reading this review, please keep in mind that this is my first longish review and it’s probably not that good but here it goes...
Six of Crows is a fantasy novel about six young kids that go on a dangerous heist. They have to rescue a scientist out of a cell and the reward, if they succeed, is enormous. The scientist they have to rescue is extremely important because he has come up with a way to improve a drug, called jurda parem. When this addictive drug is consumed by a Grisha, it c ...more

So I’m Dutch, and Kerch is largely based on my mother tongue, and Ketterdam is heavily influenced by Amsterdam with its canals and red light district (the Barrel in Six of Crows). It will forever be odd and fascinating to see characters with typical Dutch names (Kaz Rietveld, Jan van Eck, etc,) to read about Dutch dishes (hutspot) and vocabulary (Barrel, gondel, straat, etc.) I love walking around Amsterdam and sometimes thinking of scenes from thi ...more

I have FINALLY finished this book after experiencing an anxiety-induced reading slump in the middle of reading it. This was a buddy read with buddies in the Ranters and Reviewers group and I enjoyed the chats that we had.
My favorite part of this book was the characters and how much depth of character they had. I didn't LOVE Kaz as much as everyone else did but I did take a specific liking to Inej and Jesper. (I also liked Nina and Wylan.)

Kaz and Inej are some of my favorite characters I've ever read about in my life to be completely honest, and if they aren't bi panic idk what is. The other characters are fantastic as well, but there's this magic i feel while in Kaz and Inej's POVs that is just unmatched by the others. I'm going to have to reread this book sometime in the future to get more clear thoughts on it, because I happened to read it in one of the worst weeks of my life and was a bit distracted. But I know I'm in love wi

Six of Crows is definitely worth the hype. Atleast, in my opinion. This duology is a great redemption to the Grishaverse. I can hardly believe its written by the same author. The world building and plot line was captivating and intriguing. I love the Crows. They each bring depth to the story. I grew attached to all of them. And I love their backstories. I'm looking forward to reading the sequel Crooked Kingdom.

OVERHYped....
Seriously, I wish I loved it like many of you.
Sooo, I have a long story with Six of Crows.
When I bought it in 2017, I thought this gonna be one of my favorites.
When I was reading this, I thought I'll DNF it because not a lot of things happened in the first half even though the characters are likeable and I didn't like the fact the first half was almost only flashbacks. So, I put this book down for a month. The only characters that were not boring are Nina and Matthias.

You know what a group of crows is called? A murder. Very fitting, Leigh Bardugo.
The Shadow and Bone trilogy was hardly a favorite series of mine, so jumping into 'Six of Crows' was a wildly different experience. It bewilders me how a writer can grow and progress to gradually tell more mature and unique stories with each new novel, and Leigh Bardugo is a prime example of that in my eyes. 'Six of Crows' has basically all you could ask for in a well-rounded, slightly more mature YA fantasy ...more

I have no words. I have no logic or common sense running through my brain right now. All I can do is sit in silence and try to fathom the greatness of what I just read…
I loved everything EVERYTHING about this book and I loved the characters even more (they all need to be okay in CK because I cannot handle anything less rn I am waaay too attached)!!! This shit had me by the throat from the first few chapters and as soon as Kaz Brekker entered the chat. I once again hate myself for not reading it ...more

I can see why people who read the Grisha series after this would be disappointed. While Grisha is very much your standard YA fantasy replete with dangerous magic and forbidden love, this is a complex thing of beauty. Slow, painfully painfully slow for the first two thirds, and undoubtedly cringeworthy to those picking out cultural faux-pas (of which I understand there to be many - so much so I now think of Grishas as Garys just to point out the silliness of using real-world things badly) but sti
