To say McNamara was obsessed with the Golden State Killer is an understatement. The stories surrounding the Golden State Killer consumed McNamara but led to an incredibly comprehensive book telling the story of this individual who terrorized California in a time before technology captured our every move. I was following this book pretty easily until part three, which was written after Michelle's untimely death and was a bit too clinical for my taste.

I liked how Michelle incorporated her own encounter with a cold case into this investigation of a prolific serial rapist and killer. I'm convinced this monster wouldn't have been taken into custody last spring without Michelle's tireless search. ...more
