Re-read. I think the 3 stars may be generous. Not much of a story here until half way through. Themes may have been controversial or illuminating for its time but seem overplayed today. I am always amazed how science fiction often predicts the future though, and here libido enhancing chewing gum showed unique forethought. My rating is solely based on entertainment value.

Aldous Huxley's acclaimed "Brave New World." Definitely does not stand the test of time. I always heard what a wonderful this book was so I finally decided to read it about a year ago. It was so boring to me that I switched to books on cd version narrated by Michael York. It did not help matters. Although I did finish the book, it left me with a feeling of "hmm" in the end. ...more
