I've heard that this book does a great job depicting the lives and struggles of the Native American people. I have taken a few baby steps into the nonfiction genre by reading smaller works, but I feel that I am ready to take on larger books. There are simply some books that many believe people should read so they can have light shed on important points in history and acknowledge different cultures and their experiences. Readers say that this particular book was full of emotion, heartbreak, and quite honestly, it is a difficult book to read. But don't let that drive you away! I have read many difficult books that addressed uncomfortable topics, and their purpose is to be eye-opening, not just to be there for a form of entertainment. Now that I think about it, is that not the purpose of nonfiction in general? To inform us?
