I am always aware that I am reading a good book when I know I should be putting it down and getting on with other things but I just keep reading anyway! The Whisper Man is one of those books. I finished it in a day.
I enjoyed the spookiness of the story which added to the general mystery as the police searched for the murderer. Jake was a delightful and well written character who apparently could see and chat to dead people. The detectives were sensible people who did their jobs thoughtfully and ...more

I think this is the book where I realized that I really enjoy reading thrillers. If a thriller is well told, it can be the most pleasant of reading experiences! ‘The Whisper Man’ was just that!
This book had no problem gripping my attention, I got right into it. It in no way slowed down and, most importantly, it kept me wanting to turn the page to see what was going to happen next! I thought this definitely lived up to the hype--at least, it did for me. A great mix of horror (ghosts), crime, and mystery-thriller. I didn't see the villain coming; it took me a few minutes to figure it out even after the defining clues were presented. I didn't see the other twists, as well (and there are a few). Very entertaining and suspenseful!

Nothing special as plot, but it really catches you and keep you glued to the pages till you've ended it.
It deals mainly with the sense of inadequacy of parents...how I feel it!!!

I didn't like this book as much as I thought I would. I thought it was more of a mystery/serial killer type book. It spent way too much time on the dynamic between the main characters - father and son. And not enough time on the crime story. Bottom line, in my opinion it didn't live up to the hype.

Started out really spooky, got very interesting but ended as nothing special.
Bad stuff happens to kids for a few generations. A little boy copes with the support of the ghosts of those who love him.
I think part of the issue is my own imagination lead to a nightmare when listening to this book and that nightmare surpassed this ending. I didn’t care enough about the killer as a child to feel like the Teaching Assistant angle was anything more than a solution that was convenient for the author bu ...more
