I loved this book!
I feel it would be most enjoyed and appreciated by readers that read many genres.
A colourful and unique cast of characters, insight and sensitivity into indigenous culture and history and captivating interwoven stories revolving around main character Tookie.
Amidst the backdrop of the global pandemic, the murder of George Floyd and ensuing riots, Tookie must figure out why the soul of Flora is not resting and is hanging around the bookstore where Tookie works.
A compelling story!

This is a beautiful book about Covid times, but so much more. I love these characters and the world Erdrich gives them to inhabit.

My first Louise Erdrich book! And it so sucked me in despite this close-to-reality drama type of story. I'm not much of a slice of life reader, but it was hard to put this down. It takes place in Minnesota, which I love. And despite the main female protagonist being bit of an oddball, I really enjoyed it. She finds work and comfort in a bookshop after getting out of prison, and even the pandemic elements that came in were interesting.
