I didn't hate it, but I didn't exactly like it either. There were characters that I liked but you need to be wary of investing in characters in this dark dystopia. I also need to say that Cedar Songmaker, the protagonist, wasn't one of the characters that I liked. She seemed excessively self-involved most of the time, and projected her own flaws on other characters. This doesn't mean that I felt she deserved her rather harsh fate. No one did.
