A very interesting and bizarre book - bizarre in a good way! What I like about the creativity of this novel is that it all feels somewhat believable even though it is very fantastic. Over the past couple of years I have read books in the fantasy/supernatural genre where the made-up elements feel forced and kind of silly. That was not the case with this book. (view spoiler)

“The circus arrives without warning. No announcements precede it. It is simply there, when yesterday it was not.”
3,5 stars. I am not going to tell anything new, but after waiting 3 years, I am happy I finally read The Night Circus. I now get why it has been on many fantasy-favorites list: the magical atmosphere is so beautiful and alive that it’s hard to believe the circus isn’t real.

This book is so different in a time when it feels everything has been done already. It's easy when you're young to really believe in magic and be swept up in a story about it. The Night Circus is one of those that somehow manages to give magic that an adult can fall into as deeply as a child can. At the same time, it doesn't hold its punches like some children's books do. It's pretty tragic at times. It sometimes has the enchantment of a fairytale, and other times it's as disturbing as an episod

Okay... so...
It's just.... okay.
Well, a lot of it is pacing and descriptions. There was a LOT of description and I get it. It's a book about a magical Night Circus brought to life, it needs something to bring it to life! But it was just too much in my opinion (but I am biased because I don't like over descriptive things, I'm more minimal to make my own picture in my mind.)
Second, the romance... once again, another romance that was just, eh? Why? Because I saw NOTHING rom ...more

Well this book took me quite a while to get through. Fantasy is not my favourite genre. I think that once I got into the story of Marcos and Celia I started liking the book more. I found the whole notion of the competition a bit hard to follow - how it tied in with the circus and the other characters ... but eventually it came together. I know many people love this book - it was "ok" for me.
