What Members Thought

I've noticed over the past year that many who have read Firekeeper's Daughter have loved this so when it was nominated for the Edgar's I thought it was time to move it up in the rotation.
One thing that I have loved about it before even reading it is that the cover is perhaps my favorite of 2021, but as they say.....so I didn't.
I wasn't sure if this was going to be a solid mystery, but I have to say it was. I was sure that my first guess for "who did it" would be correct, but I was wrong.

To start off, I listened to this on audio, which I highly recommend, it was read by an indigenous narrator. One of the best parts of this book is how deeply engrained the Ojibwe culture, philosophy, and traditions are in the story - it was beautiful having a window into all of it. Plus, having Daunis teach Jamie about the injustices indigenous people face, as well as more about the stories and culture of the Ojibwe was a great way to shed light on those topics for the reader as well.
