I’ve read this five or six times now but never while living on Goodreads, so I can do a proper rambling review now.

I first read this book in 2000. My mom gave it me, saying all her students were reading it. But I didn’t pick it up until I saw the fourth book come out on the news and what the crowds were like. The beginning reminded me of Roald Dahl’s Matilda; her parents are a lot like the Dursleys. The book also reminded me of the movie “Labyrinth,” partly because Hoggle keeps getting called Ho

So fun to read this again, this time with both my son (age 7) and daughter (age 12). What a wonderful world J.K. Rowling created for kids (of all ages!)
