What Members Thought

The Metamorphosis held more deep meaning for me than I anticipated. I had read the opening a few times before, but somehow had never completed the book. I had no idea that the analogy of the man turned ugly and unwanted would be one that is still so pertinent one hundred years later. This story is unusual and annoying in that Kafka apparently enjoys anti-heroes. And Gregor is certainly an anti-hero in this quick read. The story begs many questions (how did that happen and why? are certainly the two biggest ones), but the one that bothers me most is why didn't he try to do something about it? Gregor pretty much just takes it as it is and then proceeds to want everyone to do everything and accept the situation. I could see how the story could be an allegory, but mostly I found
