How our motivations become something else, purely in the process of life.

How our deepest heart-wishes and best expectations get trampled in the process of living.

How everything sometimes goes wrong. Spectacularly. And yes, there are those to lo behold all this and criticise and judge us harshly. Sometimes we are the spectators ourselves. At other times we are on the receiving end. Sometimes we don't really get back up after all of this.

This book suffered from Different Expectations Syndrome. I was expecting a mind-twisting courtroom mystery along the lines of Witness for the Prosecution. It’s really a literary contemporary. That’s among my least favorite genres, so 3 stars from me would elicit 5 stars from anyone who is a fan of that genre.

Miracle Creek is quite an interesting blend of the literary and work of suspense that keeps you wondering what it was that happened in the case of the deaths of some of the characters within this piece. The story itself follows Pak and Young Yoo, who are Korean immigrants that operate a HBOT (hyperbaric oxygen therapy) and a miracle submarine.
