Indeed, I did enjoy this book on my perhaps third reading. I believe that I first read it in print and then listened to this first in a series of TWENTY! books. The No. 1 Ladies Detective Agency introduces us to the main characters: Prescious Romotswe, the first lady detective in Botswana; Mma Makutsi, her secretary who got 97% at the Botswana Secretarial School; J L B Matekoni, propriety of the Tlokweng Road Speedy Motors garage. The first one hooked me and I've had to read all the books in the series since then.
In the first book you get a bit of the back story of Precious Ramotswe and the start of her detective agency. she hires MMa Matkutsi as her secretary and begins to develop a relationship with Mr. J.L.B. Matekoni.
