This is more a drama than a mystery; it’s a love letter to Africa. Precious Ramotswe starts up a detective agency in Botswana and helps clients with a variety of problems, often involving finding out if someone is honest or not.

The first one hooked me and I've had to read all the books in the series since then.
In the first book you get a bit of the back story of Precious Ramotswe and the start of her detective agency. she hires MMa Matkutsi as her secretary and begins to develop a relationship with Mr. J.L.B. Matekoni.
There is something so wise and decent about Precious Ramotswe that these books are positively addicting.
