I've only made it into the second chapter (pg 76 to be exact)...but I just can't read anymore! It's S O S L O W. I read one paragraph and it puts me to sleep. I'm going to have to re-read 100 Years of Solitude to remind me that Garcia Marquez really is a wonderful author. ...more

I think I enjoyed this more than One Hundred Years of Solitude. Though that is partly due to the fact that the themes were not as difficult and the cast of characters was smaller and less confusing. Though I think after reading this I have a better feel for Marquez's style and should perhaps reread One Hundred Years of Solitude. ...more

I read this 10 years ago and I loved it. I recently heard from a friend that they didn't like it and that I should read it again. I'm hesitant since I really liked it the first time.

Go Oprah for inviting the rest of the country on this beautiful journey. Marquez will not disappoint.
